Young Korean people are performing miracles in every site of socialist construction as their fathers and mothers did.

The Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station, which was built six years ago to mark the 70th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, is a monumental structure where the spirit and valour of the Korean youth, who go through fire and water to the call of the country, have been fully displayed.

Young builders mounted a courageous offensive in the face of severe natural conditions of Paektu, where the temperature varies around 40 degrees centigrade below zero, and unfavourable working conditions to erect a huge dam for the power station.

Their indomitable fighting spirit was known to the whole country as the “Paektusan hero youth spirit” and letters of “heroic youth” have been inscribed on the façade of the dam of Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station Unit 1.

They also performed feats as they constructed railways between Hyesan and Samjiyon running through the Paektu area.

In June 2015, members of the northern railways youth shock brigade were entrusted with the task of filling and cutting hundreds of thousands of cubic metres of earth in a long section of steep mountains and gorges and building dozens of small structures for railways, bridges, tunnels, station buildings and houses for railway workers.

In the period of the construction project, they finished the filling and cutting of hundreds of thousands of cubic metres of earth for railway beds, which was generally considered to take two years, in a little over a year by displaying strong willpower and the spirit of carrying out the task perfectly and without fail. They completed the Karimchon Railway Bridge in nine months, though it was calculated to take over one year according to the existing construction method.

They carried out the foundation work before the time set by overcoming the trials of four seasons, including snow blizzards, ankle-deep snow water, torrential rain and hailstone, and finished the framework and final projects at a lightning tempo to construct the building of Pochon Youth Railway Station and auxiliary structures and dwelling houses so that they could blend in well with the natural scenery of northern alpine region.

Young builders shouldered heavy burdens by themselves in 2018, when the comprehensive and modern hot spring resort construction project started in the hot spring area of Yangdok County, South Phyongan Province.

The workload was gigantic: they had to carry over 200 000 cubic metres of earth for foundation works and land readjustment for the construction of the building of Onjong Railway Station, lay over 70 ten-metre-high pile foundations and erect a building on them.

However, they built the railway station building and dwelling houses for dozens of families before the time set, while making a breakthrough for advance in the van together with soldier builders.

The progress of the country is getting faster thanks to the young people who have unsparingly devoted their priceless prime of youth for the prosperity of the country.
