Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), sent a reply message to Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on Jan. 18.

The message expressed deep thanks to Nguyen Phu Trong for sending his warm congratulations to Kim Jong Un upon his assumption of the post of general secretary of the WPK at its Eighth Congress.

The wholehearted warm congratulations and best wishes of Nguyen Phu Trong greatly inspired the WPK and DPRK people who turned out in the efforts for implementing the decision of the 8th Party Congress, the message said.

The message expressed the belief that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two parties and peoples of the two countries which had entered a new high stage would steadily develop in a joint struggle for accomplishing the cause of socialism in the future, too, in conformity with the spirit of the agreement reached with Nguyen Phu Trong in March 2019.

It sincerely wished Nguyen Phu Trong good health and big success in his responsible work of leading the party and state.
