Lots of Korean people visit the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and the large portraits of their beaming images with immense yearning for them.
Among such visitors is O Yong Sun living in neighbourhood unit No. 22 in Phalgol-dong No. 2, Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang.
The 62-year-old visits the native house of the President at Mangyongdae not far from her home every day.
She was born in North Hamgyong Province. Her father was head of a clinic in a mountain village and her mother was a farmer. Her parents were hard workers who were devoted to the residents’ health and farming, she recalled.
Although her parents failed to pay close attention to their children, Yong Sun and her siblings did well at school under the warm care of their teachers and four of them graduated from colleges.
“I wanted to major in medicine and become an honourable doctor like my father, but I ended up a housewife due to an unexpected disease. Thanks to the free medical care system in our country, I recovered from it and gave birth to three children,” said O.
She often recollects the days when her eldest daughter went to Kumsong Middle School No. 1.
“At that time, a school official came to my house to congratulate me on my daughter’s admission to the school with good marks. I and my husband who was an ordinary worker were full of gratitude,” O recalled.
Since then, she said, O began to do good things for the country out of a desire to repay the favour shown by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who devoted their all to bring happiness to her family and all other families of the country.
She has planted lots of good species of trees, including pine, magnolia and juniper, at the birthplace of the President at Mangyongdae and around the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and donated many pieces of equipment for cleaning and sprucing up the places.
“When our country was hit by horrible natural disasters last year, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un was the first to visit those afflicted people though it was dangerous. And at the event celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, he repeatedly offered thanks to all the people for being healthy despite the world-sweeping pandemic. I want to dedicate my all to following his leadership,” said O.
With such a mind, she visits major construction sites and industrial establishments with aid materials associated with her sincerity and her daughters and sons-in-law accompany her.
