The Kuryong Falls known as one of the three famous waterfalls of Korea is in Outer Kumgang of Mt. Kumgang. Mt. Kumgang counts among the six celebrated mountains of Korea for myriads of its diverse, magnificent, beautiful and singular sights.
The Kuryong Falls cascading from a sheer rocky cliff while sending up clouds of spray looks like a draping roll of white silk fabrics.
The Kuryong Falls is 74 metres high and 4 metres wide.
Seen under it is the Kuryong Pond which was hollowed 13 metres deep by the falling water. Tradition says that nine dragons defending Mt. Kumgang lived in the Kuryong Pond in ancient times. Hence the names--the Kuryong Falls and the Kuryong Pond.
Above the Kuryong Falls are the Upper Phal Pools telling the legend about "eight fairies of Mt. Kumgang".
Kuryong Pavilion opposite the Falls is used as a resting place for the climbers.
The visitors to Mt. Kumgang are said to enjoy the Kuryong Falls.
