Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries to mark the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il, Day of the Shining Star.

There were celebrations in Syria, Equatorial Guinea, Ecuador and Venezuela, lectures in Kyrgyzstan, DR Congo, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Tanzania and film shows in Romania, Guinea, Nigeria and Mexico between Feb. 9 and 18.

Korean films documenting the exploits performed by Kim Jong Il, the military parade held in commemoration of the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, etc. were shown at the film shows.

Speeches were made at the events attended by public figures and citizens of the relevant countries.

The chairman of the Central Council of the People Unity-"Kyrgyz El" Republican Political Party of Kyrgyzstan, the chairman of the Ugandan National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, the chairman of the Ugandan National Executive Committee of the Pan-African Movement, the chairman of the Ecuadorian Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea and other speakers praised the exploits of Kim Jong Il, who continued his journey for field-guidance till the last moments of his great life for the country's prosperity and the people's happiness.

Meanwhile, internet photo exhibitions were held in various countries and regions from Feb. 10 to 22.
