Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- The mother tongue of the DPRK people is Korean, a superior language in the world.
The Korean nation is a homogenous one that has long lived in the same land with one blood and one language.
The Korean language has been developed in depth along with the nation's history of 5 000 years.
In particular, Hunminjongum (Korean alphabet), created in the 15th century, had a scientific principle and well-organized structure and system pertaining to it, with its rich phonetic characteristics.
The creation of Hunminjongum, which takes a prominent place in the development of the world letters, made it possible to establish a rule of the Korean nation's language and ensure the unity of linguistic life by it.
The development of the Korean language was severely restricted by the Japanese imperialists, who had enforced a vicious policy of obliterating it after they occupied Korea early in the 20th century.
After the liberation of Korea from Japan's colonial rule (August 15, 1945), the national language came into bloom.
President Kim Il Sung had guided the work to revive the Korean language, once obliterated by the foreign forces, and defend its characteristics.
He made public such famous works as "Problems Related to the Development of the Korean Language" and "On Correctly Preserving the National Characteristics of the Korean Language" to give an overall and scientific exposition of the theoretical and practical issues arising in developing the national language centered on the popular masses, the main force for the development of history and society.
He clarified an idea on preserving the national character of the language and developing it with the Pyongyang dialect as standard, which made it possible to further display the superiority of the Korean language.
Thanks to the Juche-based linguistic idea of the peerlessly great men and to the correct linguistic policy of the Workers' Party of Korea, borrowed and uncultured words could be refined into the correct national words in Pyongyang Cultured Language, the standard language which has maintained its identity and oneness with the nation.
The DPRK people have maintained the purity of Pyongyang Cultured Language by establishing the Juche character and national character in their linguistic life.
