Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The 13th Plenary Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) was held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Wednesday.

Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, and chairman of the Standing Committee of the SPA, presided over the plenary meeting.

Attending the meeting were Vice-Chairmen Thae Hyong Chol and Pak Yong Il, Secretary General Ko Kil Son and members of the Standing Committee of the SPA.

Present there as observers were officials concerned of the Standing Committee of the SPA and the Cabinet.

Presented to the meeting as agendas were the issues of adopting the DPRK law on social insurance and social security and the DPRK law on disinfection of imports and approving the national economic development plan of the DPRK for Juche 110 (2021) and the master plan for land development in the east coastal area.

Given at the meeting was an explanation of the main contents of the law on social insurance and social security and the law on disinfection of imports examined by the SPA Legislation Committee.

The law on social insurance and social security that carries 90 provisions calls for protecting the people's health and providing them with stable and happy living conditions, and specifies in detail the accumulation and expenditure of social insurance money, the organization, operation and duty of social insurance organ, etc.

It also deals with principled matters arising in the observation and execution of the law, including procedures for social security, organization and operation of social security organ, preferential treatment for meritorious persons and guidance and control over the work of social insurance and social security.

The law on disinfection of imports stipulates the matters arising in defending the security of the state and reliably protecting the people's life by strictly establishing the system and order of disinfecting imports at border-passing spots, and the contents of due penalty for violating the proceedings, method and order of disinfection of imports and others.

The meeting heard reports on the national economic development plan for Juche 110 (2021) and the master plan for land development in the east coastal area.

On the basis of in-depth study and full discussion of the agendas, the plenary meeting adopted with unanimous approval the decrees of the SPA Standing Committee "On Adopting the DPRK Law on Social Insurance and Social Security", "On Adopting the DPRK Law on Disinfection of Imports", "On Approving the National Economic Development Plan of the DPRK for Juche 110 (2021)" and "On Approving the Master Plan for Land Development in the East Coastal Area". -0-
