Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 28th anniversary of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the National Defence Commission (NDC) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
On the anniversary, the Korean people recollect with deep emotion the proud days of the Songun (military-first) revolution they had adorned with victory and glory under the guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Il.
In the 1990s when the country had to undergo harsh ordeals, the Chairman clarified that the socialist politics for comprehensively realizing the independent demand and interests of the popular masses should be the Songun politics of giving importance and priority to the military affairs and formulated the Songun politics as the basic mode of politics under socialism. And he saw to it that the socialist constitution embodying the idea and principle of the Songun revolution was adopted and a new state machinery with the NDC as its pivot established so that all the state affairs could be dealt with on the principle of giving priority to the military affairs.
With faith that the dignity of the country and nation and the victory of the revolution are ensured by the arms of the revolution, he had ceaselessly visited frontline military posts and defence industry bases to bolster up the military capability for self-defence.
Thanks to his continued field guidance to all parts of the country, the flames of the industrial revolution in the new century and the great revolutionary upswing flared up and eye-opening events were witnessed on all fronts for improving the people's livelihood and building an economic power.
The popular policies enforced without interruption in the most difficult times and the edifices for people's wellbeing built in different parts of the country are all associated with his noble view on the people.
So, the 5th Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly in April Juche 101 (2012) acclaimed Kim Jong Il as the eternal NDC chairman of the DPRK in reflection of all the people's ardent wish and desire.
His distinguished feats for the Songun revolution will remain forever with the eternal history of Juche Korea.
