Pyongyang, April 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun on Friday says in an article that the on-going all-people grand march calls on all the officials, Party members and other working people to firmly arm themselves with the Party's outlook on independent scientific development and outlook on independent economic development and thoroughly apply them to their revolutionary practice.
The outlook on independent scientific development and the outlook on independent economic development constitute a viewpoint and stand on ensuring independence and preserving the Juche character in sci-tech development and economic construction, says the article, adding:
The present era is the one of knowledge-based economy characterized by a close combination and integration of science, technology and production. Production and economic development totally depend on the sci-tech development. When efforts are exerted constantly on independent sci-tech, economic development, it is possible to build a powerful socialist economy.
Economic independence is a material guarantee for building a powerful country. Economic dependence on others results in ruining the destiny of a country and nation, far from development.
When we have science and technology developed by ourselves, we can solve every problem in economic construction in our own way, as required by our specific conditions.
Self-reliance is the fundamental way to achieve independent development of science, technology and economy. Introduction of others' technology and dependence on their economy may bring about a change temporarily. But they can never help facilitate stable and steady economic development. Only when we uphold the banner of self-development and self-reliance with a firm viewpoint to achieve the economic development by our own efforts and technology, we can radically increase the sci-tech and economic power of our country. -0-
