Scientific research institutions in the DPRK are conducting positive researches to protect and multiply the animal and plant resources.
The Zoology Institute under the State Academy of Sciences is making an overall survey of the wild animal sanctuaries across the country according to indices in cooperation with organs concerned while promoting the work to establish new sanctuaries in the regions with well-preserved bio-ecological system.
Especially, it is speeding up the material and technical preparations to increase the number of goshawk, the national bird of the DPRK.

It is also making successes in establishing the cultivating technology of the useful economic plants and garden plants and growing choice varieties. Besides, it is writing and compiling books which are helpful for widening the knowledge of plants and the common sense of afforestation.
