Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Saturday says in an article that architecture visually reflects the ideology of the times.
The Juche-oriented socialist architecture is, in essence, the one based on the people-first doctrine, says the article, and goes on:
It is the popular masses that create and enjoy architecture in our country. Our Party gives top priority to the interests and convenience of the people, regarding them as absolute, and makes selfless, devoted efforts for them. Our architecture reflects our Party's outlook on the people and noble idea that the people are god.
It is the intention of our Party that every structure has to help satisfy the people's material, cultural, ideological and aesthetic demands at the highest level and thoroughly ensure their independent and creative life.
Architecture comprehensively represents the level of civilization of the times.
Countless edifices built in the era of the Workers' Party all reflect the socialist civilization which can be demonstrated to the world in terms of their contents and forms.
At present the construction of 10 000 flats in Pyongyang City and Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District is being pushed forward, according to the grandiose plan and decision of the Party Central Committee to make the capital of our state more beautiful and magnificent.
If new style flats are built to give a facelift to the capital, the modernity of our capital as the centre of the socialist civilization and the appearance of the developed Juche-oriented architecture will be displayed and the people provided with better living environment and conditions and material and cultural wellbeing. -0-
