Land-and manpower-saving tree nurseries have been built in provinces of
the DPRK to lay a solid foundation for the sapling production. Their
production is put on a scientific, industrial and intensive basis.
The Kangwon Provincial Tree Nursery was built first as a model and standard of provincial tree nurseries in 2018.
The province has built in tens of hectares of area a nursery, which has a plastic sheet-roofed greenhouse, an outdoor
cultivation ground, a circular cutting bed, a substrate-producing ground,
a seed selection and sowing ground and so on. It can produce tens of
millions of saplings annually.
Following it, a nursery has been wonderfully built in North Hamgyong Province, making it possible to mass-produce tree saplings in all seasons.
Last year nurseries that can produce tree saplings twice a year were built in North and South Phyongan and North Hwanghae Provinces and Nampho City.
At present, they are
raising the level of scientification of sapling production, producing
and supplying loads of saplings of good species that are suited to the climatic and soil conditions of their localities and with economic and ornamental value, making
a contribution to the forest rehabilitation campaign.
