The construction of Hungju Youth Power Station Unit 5 is well underway in Jagang Province.

The builders carried out 80 percent of the total workload until late May and continue to press on with the project in the same spirit.

With the help of heavy machinery, members of the youth shock brigade finished the enormous foundation work in some 40 days and are now hastening the structural construction at the final stage by stepping up the concrete placing of spillway, columns, intakes and drainage canals.

They introduced a new assembly method to save lots of materials and manpower and finish the installation of beams of the dam and winch of floodgate in 20 days, which was expected to take over one year.

Youth shock brigade members and builders in charge of the infrastructure project of the generator room are pushing ahead with the building of an outdoor substation and riverside retaining walls and the arrangement of the area simultaneously while assembling and installing equipment for the volute chamber and others.

Related units in the province are also making innovations in the processing of major equipment needed for the construction of the power station by introducing several inventions which are profitable and of economic significance.
