Meeting of DPRK Red Cross Society held

A meeting of the Red Cross Society of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was held via zoom-conference on the 8th and the 9th. Present at the meeting were members of the Central Committee of the Red Cross Society and other officials in the capital and provinces. The meeting heard a report on the work of the Central Committee between 2017 and 2020. The reporter said the Red Cross Society has worked mainly to build safer residential areas according to the prospective plan represented in its strategic plan until 2020 during the period under review, making achievements. He also said the society has further strengthened and developed the exchanges and cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the red cross and red crescent organizations in different countries. He stressed that all the successes made in the work of the Red Cross Society are ascribed to the wise leadership of the respected Kim Jong Un who regards it as the supreme principle of the state activities to give top priority to and absolutize the demand and conveniences of the people and constantly improve the people's living standard and applies it. It is the basic mission for the Red Cross Society of the DPRK to prevent the people's misfortune, mitigate their sufferings and improve their health and well-being, he said and put emphasis on the work for the society to fully attain the strategic goals between 2021 and 2030. The meeting adopted a strategy and orientation of sectional activities until 2030, adopted amended and supplemented rules and elected members of the new leadership body.
