Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, the people-oriented insurance system has been enforced for the economic development and the improvement of people's livelihood.
The purpose of the insurance work in the country is to protect the property of the state and people and the people's lives from any natural disaster and sudden accident, accelerate the national economic development and provide the working people with stable and better life.
President Kim Il Sung advanced the idea of abolishing the reactionary insurance system of the Japanese imperialists and enforcing the insurance system for the people, in his famous works "The Ten-Point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland" and "The Tasks of Korean Communists" published in May 1936 and in November 1937, the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.
He established the people-oriented Korean-style insurance system after the liberation of Korea from Japan's colonial rule and provided an advantageous socialist state insurance system after the Fatherland Liberation War.
The DPRK has almost all kinds of insurance like fire insurance, crops insurance and other forms of insurance according to the property type of industrial establishments and cooperative organizations, which are applied in the field of international insurance. And life and inauspicious event insurance, family property insurance and other kinds of insurance ensuring the life and property of individuals have been enforced.
All the insurance works are organized and enforced on the principle of giving top priority to the convenience of the people. They fully perform their mission and role as the socialist insurance by steadily improving the conditions of guarantee and service and making compensation for the damage from typhoon, flood, fire, etc.
The DPRK acceded to the FAIR (Federation of Afro-Asian Insurance & Reinsurance) and other international insurance organizations scores of years ago for the purpose of exchanging opinions on the practical issues arising in the insurance field and taking measures for them and intensifying the international cooperation and relations. -0-
