Pyongyang, June 22 (KCNA) -- The Chollima Steel Complex is one of the major metal producers in the DPRK.
Recorded in the country's annals of socialist construction, adorned with great victory and epoch-making changes, are the heroic feats of its workers.
In December Juche 45 (1956), President Kim Il Sung visited the then Kangson Steel Plant (the predecessor of the complex) and said that it would be good for the country if it has 10 000 tons of rolled steel in addition.
True to his instruction, its workers performed a miracle by turning out 120 000 tons of steel at a blooming mill with the capacity of 60 000 tons. In those days, the complex displayed its name to the whole country as hometown of Chollima that raised the first torch of the great Chollima upsurge.
Visiting the complex in December 2008, Chairman Kim Jong Il called on its workers, who upheld the WPK with steel at every difficult time, to stand in the van of the great upsurge by charging again at the speed of Chollima. In hearty response to his call, its workers kindled the flame of a new great revolutionary upswing to increase the steel production six times and the production of Juche iron and rolled steel four times respectively in 2009 as against the preceding year.
Carrying forward the tradition of the preceding generations who devotedly defended the Party Central Committee with increased steel production, the workers of the complex are now producing a large amount of iron and steel through the brisk collective innovation movement under the communist slogan "One for all and all for one!". -0-
