Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, president of the State Affairs of the DPRK and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, on Sunday sent a message of greeting to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, president of the People’s Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC, on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the conclusion of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.

The conclusion of the treaty was a historic event which demonstrated to the whole world the firm will of the two Parties, governments and peoples of the two countries to ensure the long-term development of the DPRK-China friendship, which was forged at the cost of their blood on the road of independence against imperialism and of socialism on the basis of solid legal foundations, the General Secretary of the WPK said, adding that over the past six decades the DPRK and China have written a proud history of friendship while invariably supporting and cooperating with each other morally and materially in the struggle for accomplishing the joint cause, sharing sweets and bitters in all tempests of history.

Saying that despite the unprecedentedly complicated international situation in recent years, the comradely trust and militant friendship between the two countries get stronger day by day and the traditional bilateral friendship has gained fresh impetus to comprehensively develop onto a higher stage in all fields including politics, the economy, military and culture, he stated that the treaty is displaying its stronger vitality in defending and propelling the socialist cause of the two countries and ensuring peace and stability in Asia and the rest of the world now when the hostile forces become more desperate in their challenge and obstructive moves.

It is the unshakeable stand of the WPK and the DPRK government to constantly bolster up friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and China as required by the new times and as desired by the peoples of the two countries, he said, stressing that the Korean Party, government and people would set great store by the bilateral friendship, the valuable asset common to the two countries, and would join hands firmly with the CPC and the government and people of China in the sacred struggle for building socialism and communism.

Expressing great pleasure over the fact that the Chinese Party and people have achieved remarkable successes in socialist construction with the Chinese characteristics under the guidance of the respected General Secretary Xi Jinping and celebrated the 100th founding anniversary of the CPC with splendour, he hoped that they would continue to make great progress in comprehensively building a modern socialist state and achieving the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

He sincerely wished General Secretary Xi Jinping good health and greater success in his responsible work for the prosperity of the country and the well-being of the people.
