Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- A brisk campaign is being waged nationwide to increase the areas for cultivating oil-bearing plants. Co-op farms in North Hwanghae Province put over 1,000 hectares of more land under cultivation this year to raise oil-bearing crops and are providing scrupulous technical guidance for all the farm operations.
The farms set goals and ensured rational organization of manpower to cultivate more sunflowers, perilla-oil plants, etc.
They found out idle land, increased the soil fertility and sowed seeds suited to local soil and climatic conditions.
Various methods including inter-tilling have been applied to grow perilla, rape and other oil-bearing plants.
The oil-bearing crops which are of high nutritional and pharmacological effect were planted on the edge and ridges of fields and other idle land, and are being tended responsibly.
