The fourth power station of the Huchang Mine has been built and gone into production in Ryanggang Province.
Consequently, the mine has become able to normalize its production as a base for the production of nonferrous metallic mineral and the families round the mine have been able to benefit from electricity satisfactorily.
Scores of years ago President Kim Il Sung gave Ryanggang Province instructions to build many medium- and small-sized power stations and said that power stations with a large generation capacity of electricity could be built by damming the Huju River and its branches alone.
True to the instructions, the provincial Kumgang management bureau built a power station with a production capacity of hundreds of kilowatts of electricity across the Huju River. Drawing on this experience it went all out to build another efficient power station.
Under the guidance of the provincial Party committee the bureau formed a corps of builders and dynamically stepped up the construction of the power station day and night.
The officials concerned took the lead in making a breakthrough in difficult undertakings and organized and directed the projects for the construction of the power station in detail.
The builders of the power station worked hard in high spirit of their own accord in response to the great action program set forth at the historic 8th Party Congress and registered one success after another day by day in erecting a dam for the power station. As a result, an electric generator room, a surge tank and a waterway tunnel were well under construction.
In close liaison with the units concerned the builders of the power station actively contrived rational building methods and new technological innovations and applied them to their work.
Thanks to the hardworking builders the fourth power station was ultimately completed with success. It is the product of the province’s self-reliance.
In addition, dwellings as well as a fish farm were also built anew round the power station.
The power station runs at full capacity.
