7th National Conference of War Veterans Held Splendidly

Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- On the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, all the people and service personnel of the People's Army are paying high tribute and extending militant greetings to the respectful war victor generation who performed distinguished service to remain long in the history.

The 7th National Conference of War Veterans was splendidly held on Tuesday in front of the Monument to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War in Pyongyang.

Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, attended the conference.

Entering the venue, he met the war veterans who had worked at important posts of the Party, government and armed forces organs for a long time to shake hands with each of them and warmly congratulate them.

Amid the playing of the welcome music, he appeared at the platform of the conference with the war veterans.

The moment, fireworks were displayed and all the participants raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" in great reverence for Kim Jong Un who is the symbol of the might of the ever-victorious WPK and dignified DPRK and a banner of all the victories and glory.

Warmly waving back to the enthusiastically cheering participants, he heartily congratulated them and other war veterans across the country.

Present at the conference were the war veterans and persons of wartime merits, who are the heroes of the great years, as well as the service persons of the heroic armed forces of the Republic, university students and personnel and students of revolutionary schools.

Appearing at the platform were Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK.

Leading officials of the Party and government Ri Il Hwan, O Il Jong, Jong Kyong Thaek, Kim Yong Hwan and chief secretaries of the provincial committees of the WPK also took the platform.

Commanding officers of the armed forces organs including Pak Jong Chon, Kwon Yong Jin and Ri Yong Gil were also seen at the platform.

As the 7th National Conference of War Veterans was declared open, the national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made an impassioned and significant congratulatory speech.

He extended warm congratulations to all the war veterans, persons of wartime merits and all other people across the country greeting the great V-Day, expressing his pleasure to celebrate the anniversary together with war veterans again.

He highly praised the defenders and builders of the country in the 1950s who created the heroic fighting spirit and traits as benefactors and genuine teachers we should admire and learn after with feelings of gratitude forever.

He said that it was the honorable mission for descendants of the generation who won the victory in the war to further consolidate and bring to prosperity forever the country, which was defended and built by martyrs, by successfully carrying forward the tradition of great victory and the heroic spirit created under the leadership of the great leader and the great Party. He added that the revolutionary assets gained by the war victor generation at the cost of their lives are firm, and the cause of our state and socialism is bright.

He wished war veterans a long life in good health, saying that it is the great encouragement for our Party, the people and our revolution to have them in good health.

The participants in the conference were greatly excited by the speech of the General Secretary full of lofty sense of revolutionary obligation and noble comradely love for the war veterans who created the history of great victory of the country.

When the respected General Secretary concluded his speech, enthusiastic cheers of "Hurrah!" resounded the venue of the conference and fireworks were shot off.

Watching the brightly illuminated sculpture "Victory" together with war veterans, he expressed his conviction that the great spirit and will instilled by the V-Day would be an eternal impetus promoting the advance and development of socialist construction.

The conference ended amid deep gratitude for the General Secretary putting forward the war veterans to the meridian of glory and the single-minded will of the participants to uphold the Party Central Committee with loyalty.

The conference demonstrated the unshakable will of our people to make a dynamic advance in the spirit of defending the country and the revolution and in the fighting spirit of self-reliance and fortitude displayed by the heroes of the great years and thus win the final victory of the socialist cause under the leadership of Kim Jong Un . -0-
