Pyongyang, August 5 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers in different parts of the DPRK take measures to protect crops from diseases and harmful insects in rainy season, intensifying the insect monitoring.

On the basis of a correct analysis of the growth of crops on different farms, officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and provincial, city and county agricultural guidance organs provide technical guidance in a responsible manner in order to resolve the problems arising in production of bio-insecticides and introduction of efficient methods into exterminating harmful insects.

As sultry and humid weather lingers, the central plant quarantine station of the ministry puts efforts into strengthening the insect monitoring system in cooperation with provincial, city and county plant quarantine stations.

Plant quarantine stations in different parts of the country take timely measures to protect crops in different states of growth from diseases and harmful insects.

They produce various effective insecticides with locally available raw materials.

Co-op farms set up light traps and insect monitoring posts on their fields to protect crops from harmful insects. They thoroughly observe the sci-tech regulations in application of insecticides and irrigation. -0-
