Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- An enlarged meeting of the South Hamgyong Provincial Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was convened on Aug. 5, according to an instruction of the WPK Central Military Commission.

Present there were members of the provincial Party military commission, chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees, leading Party and administrative officials of province-level institutions and major factories and enterprises, officials concerned of construction and designing fields and military and political cadres of the People's Army units stationed in the province.

The instruction of the Central Military Commission of the WPK was conveyed by Chief Secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK Ri Jong Nam.

It was mentioned at the meeting that upon receiving the news about damage by downpour in the province, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un specified the direction and ways for recovery from damage several times and took measures for providing materials urgently needed for it.

It was particularly mentioned that the General Secretary set forth it as an important task facing the chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees to pay primary attention to the life of people in the disaster-stricken areas and strengthen Party work, the work with the people, to rally the broad masses closer around the Party under such difficult situation as now. It was also emphasized that he called for awakening and arousing the officials of the city and county Party committees and Party organizations into waging the recovery campaign skillfully and unyieldingly.

The meeting heard in detail the scope of flood damage in the province and took specific measures for thoroughly carrying out the instruction of the Party Central Military Commission.

The meeting discussed such technical matters as the formation of construction forces to be rapidly dispatched to the relevant areas according to the fixed scope of recovery, the provision of designs on a preferential basis and the transport of materials. The meeting also organized a powerful damage recovery commanding team with leading officials of the Party, administrative, security and defence institutions and military and political cadres of the People's Army in the province.

Also discussed at the meeting was the issue of taking emergency measures to promptly stabilize the living of people in the disaster-hit areas, further tightening emergency epidemic prevention work and minimizing the damage to crops.

The meeting called on all the Party organizations, people and service personnel in the province to turn out in the recovery from damage with strong confidence that we will surely win if we display to the full the might of the single-minded unity, the army-people unity around the Party Central Committee whatever the wildness of the nature and the manifold challenges and trials.

The enlarged meeting of the South Hamgyong Provincial Military Commission of the WPK adopted with unanimous approval a decision on finishing the recovery from damage by dint of the great army-people unity till the founding anniversary of the Party, guided by our Party's people-first idea. -0-
