Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- The victory in the anti-Japanese revolutionary war led by President Kim Il Sung (August 15, 1945) was a great event in the 20th century as it opened up a road of the Korean nation's rebirth and gave a new impetus to the anti-imperialist national liberation struggle.
Penetrating into the overall situation of the independence movement in Korea and the national liberation struggle in other colonial countries, the President conducted his energetic study and activities to carve out a new path of the Korean revolution.
In the course, he advanced an independent idea that the victory in each country's revolution can be achieved only when the revolution is carried out by each country's revolutionaries and people themselves. And he defined it as the basic way for Korea's liberation to launch an organized armed struggle against the Japanese imperialist aggressors and carried it into the revolutionary practice.
He declared a great anti-Japanese war under the slogan of "Oppose arms with arms, and oppose counterrevolutionary violence with revolutionary violence!" and waged the organized armed struggle to smash the Japanese imperialism and liberate Korea.
Under his leadership, the Korean people won the victory in the anti-Japanese revolutionary war by their own efforts, without state-backing home front and assistance of a regular army.
For this reason, their anti-Japanese revolutionary war became a model of national independence based on one's own strength in colonial countries.
After all, a new era of independence was opened in which the peoples in colonial countries carve out their destiny by their own efforts, taking it into their own hands as the driving force for the development of history. Many countries and peoples in Asia, Africa and Latin America, once the victims of domination and subordination, could achieve the national independence through armed struggle and enter the road for building a new society.
Such reality would have been unthinkable without the immortal feats of the President who clarified the theoretical and practical problems arising in the anti-imperialist national liberation struggle and set an example in carrying them into practice. -0-
