Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- It's been 5 years since the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent the historic letter "On the Basic Tasks Facing Kim Il Sung University in the New Era of the Juche Revolution" to the teaching staff and students of the university on the occasion of its 70th founding anniversary.
For the past 5 years, the university has focused efforts on the production of creative talents and creation of latest scientific theories and new technologies by closely combining education with scientific research.
Over 20 new subjects and hundreds of advantageous teaching methods were pioneered and more than 600 students have been awarded the University Student Scientific Research Prize.
The university came first in national contests including the 2019 Robot Football Tournament of University Students and over 10 international online programming contests. It also contributed treatises to prestigious international science magazines.
Its past five years also saw big successes in integration of education, scientific research and production.
The university provided sci-tech guarantee for normalizing production by introducing a slag-rate measurement system into the oxygen heat blast furnace at the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex and made many other research successes such as the completion of an IT-based business management system.
It improved its educational conditions and environment by completing the renovation of its natural history museum and the construction of the High-Tech Development Institute and remodeling its hospital and sanatorium.
It has produced 6 best scientists and technicians of the nation and over 600 recipients of the title of October 8 Model Professors. February 16 Science and Technology Prize was conferred on its 20-odd scientific and technical successes conducive to developing the national economy.
