The National Defence Development Exhibition "Self-Defence--2021" grandly opened at the Three-Revolution Exhibition House on October 11 on the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The respected Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, was present at the opening ceremony.

Participating in the opening ceremony were Choe Ryong Hae, Jo Yong Won, Kim Tok Hun and Pak Jong Chon, Members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK.

Attending it were senior officials of the Party and the government and leading officials of the Cabinet, ministries and working people's organizations.

Also on hand were leading officials of the armed forces organs and commanders of the combined units of all services of the Korean People's Army.

Invited to the exhibition were meritorious officials, scientists and technicians in the field of national defence industry.

Before the start of the opening ceremony, there was a peculiar ceremony of the general military band.

Then, there was a demonstration of military arts of combatants of the People's Army.

Ace parachutists showed their parachuting skills, flying the red Party flag in the sky of the jubilant October.

Combat pilots showed their stunt in the sky over the venue of the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held.

Kim Jong Un appeared on the rostrum together with the leading officials and meritorious persons in the field of defence scientific research.

An opening address was made by Pak Jong Chon, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Secretary of the Party Central Committee.

When the exhibition was declared open, the national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played.

Kim Jong Un made a speech at the exhibition.

He proudly declared that the grand exhibition is a great demonstration of the national power as good as a large-scale military parade which shows intensively and intuitively the grand ambition, leadership ability and practical executive ability of the Party invariably maintaining the invincible line of self-defence to make a new turning point in strengthening the national defence capability and which demonstrates the miraculous development of the defence science and munitions industry our state has reached and their brilliant prospect.

Recollecting the untrodden paths, the life-and-death road of revolution in the national defence industry our Party had to cover inevitably over the past five years, he mentioned the validity of the defence policy of our Party which regarded the strengthening of the national defence as essential and vital important state affairs that should not be neglected even a moment. And he ardently called upon all people to devote all their soul and body, wisdom and passion to the sacred cause for consolidating the defence capability of our great state in every way.

At the opening ceremony commendations were awarded to those who rendered distinguished services to developing the defence capability of the country.

Kim Jong Un personally awarded them the Order of Kim Il Sung and the Order of Kim Jong Il, the highest decorations of the DPRK, the Kim Il Sung Prize, the Kim Jong Il Prize, the title of Labour Hero of the DPRK and the Gold Medal (Hammer and Sickle) and Order of the National Flag 1st Class, and the watches carrying the names of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

He looked round the venue of the exhibition together with the participants.

The venue of the exhibition intensively showed the powerful defence capability of the DPRK with the main stress on all sorts of weapons and combat equipment developed and produced in recent five years.

Looking round with deep emotion all the arms and equipment associated with the soul of Juche flowing like the blood vessel and as good as the organic body pulsating with the breath of the defence scientists, workers in the field of munitions industry and all other people, Kim Jong Un appreciated once again the ardent patriotism and loyalty of the soldiers in the field of national defence industry faithful to the Party which were devoted to the national-historic sacred cause of consolidating the world's strongest self-reliant defence capability.

He had a picture taken with the leading officials in the field of defence science in commemoration of the National Defence Development Exhibition which will be specially recorded in the history of the WPK and the country. And then he had a photo session with the parachutists and combat pilots of the Air and Anti-Aircraft Force of the KPA who performed their stunt and parachuting tasks with success.
