Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, big efforts have been paid to use solar energy for production, business activities and life.

Many units and families in Pyongyang and other parts of the country are now using solar panels, solar water heaters and other solar energy equipment.

Some units put surplus electricity into the state power grid. The agricultural sector established a new process for drying agricultural products by solar heat to reduce the drying time one third than natural drying while saving much electricity and fuel. And rural people solved the cooking fuel by introducing an automatic concentrating solar collector.

Meanwhile, a research for perfecting the solar heating system at houses has been conducted.

The Natural Energy Institute of the State Academy of Sciences and the Solar Heater Company have developed new technologies and products based on solar energy and introduced them into many units across the country. -0-
