Measures are taken in the fields of agriculture, light industry and fisheries to stabilize and improve the people's living in response to the administrative policies of the government of the DPRK.
The Ministry of Agriculture has taken steps to breed and introduce choice and high-yield varieties withstanding the disastrous abnormal climate, and produce seeds in a scientific and technological way and provide them according to demand.
It is striving to boldly change the distribution of crops and increase the area of distribution of early varieties. Meanwhile, prospective plans for the agricultural development are mapped out on the principle of ensuring the profitability in double cropping and strengthening the state's control and scientific and technical guidance over the grain production.
Ways were also discussed to promote the undertakings for preventing the damages from drought and high temperature by strengthening the water control system and to ensure the promptness, scientific accuracy and correctness of the weather forecast.
Detailed measures are also taken to intensify the fruit and vegetable production, build many large-scale vegetable greenhouse farms, increase the production of industrial crops and improve their quality.
The Ministry of Light Industry is pushing ahead with the work to provide raw and other materials necessary for the production of consumer goods and operate the light industrial factories at full capacity.
Light industrial factories across the country are conducting production and business activities with main stress on raising the quality of consumer goods, increasing their varieties and lowering the cost.
Opinions are raised and put into practice in the field of fisheries to step up the modernization, repair and maintenance of the fishing boats and fishing tackle, catch more fish through intensive fishing campaign and produce various kinds of processed fish.
Proposals are also raised to protect and manage the marine resources in a planned way and extensively conduct fish farming and culture for increasing the fisheries output.
