Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The Friendship Tower stands at the foot of picturesque Moran Hill in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.
The tower was built in October Juche 48 (1959) for remembering the heroic feats of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) who participated in the Korean people's Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950 - July 27, 1953) in the 1950s and shining the DPRK-China friendship.
The 30-meter high tower with a total building site of 120 000 square meters is composed of the two-storied tower body and the star. Carved in relief on the front of the 20-meter high tower body is a golden letter "Friendship Tower".
Seen on the outer and inner walls at the first floor of the tower body are sculptures in relief and murals depicting DPRK-China friendship.
The tower was built of 1 025 pieces of natural granite and marble symbolizing October 25, the date of the CPV's entry into the Korean front.
The inscription on the monument of the tower reads that the international friendship forged in blood between the peoples of the DPRK and China will shine forever.
Sculptures on the outer walls of the tower are composed of "Battle" part and "Postwar reconstruction" part.
And the murals in the round-shaped inner wall are divided into "Entry into war", "Victory" and "Postwar reconstruction" parts.
The visitors to the Friendship Tower make a long stop in front of murals showing the feats of the soldiers of the Korean People's Army and the Chinese People's Volunteers.
