Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- Spokesperson for the Korea Association for Human Rights Studies gave the following answer to a question put by the Korean Central News Agency on October 26 with respect to the malicious slander about our human rights situation made by a "special rapporteur" on human rights situation in the DPRK at the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly:
Recently, so-called "special rapporteur" on human rights situation in the DPRK has maliciously slandered our state at the United Nations, reeling off reckless remarks such as "systematic human rights violation", "oppression of freedom of expression," etc.
Never ever have we accepted this "special rapporteur", nor do we concern ourselves about his mandate.
The "special rapporteur", not being content with distorting our reality, has pointed a finger at our "people's livelihood" and viciously picked on the most realistic and appropriate anti-epidemic measures taken by our state for our own specific need in order to cope with the global epidemic.
Our state takes full responsibility for the life security and livelihood of our people, and we have never asked anyone to worry about the living conditions of our people.
In our country where the people-first politics run through all fields of social life, the people's rights and interests are given the highest and absolute priority, and the people's dignity and rights are firmly guaranteed.
The superiority of the people-centered socialism of our own style will not be overshadowed by whoever distorts our reality and vilifies our state, and the anti-DPRK plots pursued by the hostile forces will be demolished by the strength of our single-minded unity.
We are fully aware that the reckless remarks by the "special rapporteur" are not a mere nonsense of an individual with a topsy-turvy insight but a scheme worked out at the urging of the United States.
It is well known to the world that the U.S. - a kingpin of human rights violations with the worst human rights record the history has ever known - has masqueraded itself as a "champion of human rights" with the purpose to abuse the "human rights issue" as a means for interfering in the internal affairs of other countries.
The United Nations needs to bring itself to its senses, and it is first requested to take an immediate step to create a post of "special rapporteur" with a mandate to have oversight of human rights situation in the United States suffering from chronic "human rights complications" caused by racial discrimination, expulsion of immigrants, child maltreatment, police violence, gun-related crime, etc.
No one would be permitted to trespass on our sacred and pure area of human rights. -0-
