People visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state, and paid high tribute to them.
A lot of people visited the statues of the President and the Chairman and mosaics picturing their smiling images in different parts of the country including Mansu Hill and paid tribute after placing bouquets and flowers.
Pervading the whole country on the day were the happiness of women living a worthwhile life as flowers of the society and collective and greetings to all the mothers.
Service personnel firmly defending the defense line posts of the country and young people performing feats in the great struggle for a fresh development of socialist construction sent greeting cards to their mothers.
At flower shops and flower counters in different parts of the country youth and students bought beautiful flowers for their mothers who have shown deep love and affection for them.
Colorful art performances revving up the holiday atmosphere were given in Pyongyang and the provinces.
Mansudae Art Troupe gave a music and dance performance at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre, the National Symphony Orchestra a concert at Moranbong Theatre, artistes of the National Folk Art Troupe a music and dance performance at Ponghwa Art Theatre, and opera "Eternal Victors" was staged at Pyongyang Grand Theatre.
A circus show and magic suite "mysterious wonder" were given at Pyongyang Circus Theater and magic theater of National Acrobatic Troupe to please the citizens celebrating Mother's Day.
