Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- The Hydraulic Engineering Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences has created a large hydraulic turbine model test hall of great practical significance in producing hydro-power generating equipment and ensuring its scientific operation.
The test hall can make general confirmation of characteristic indices of turbines to be newly developed or remodeled through simulation tests of miniature turbines.
The establishment of the hall made it possible to guarantee the scientific accuracy of design by verifying the efficiency and security of hydraulic turbines. It also laid a material and technological foundation for increasing electric-power production and enhancing security in the operation of power generating equipment at hydroelectric power plants.
The research group conducted simulation tests of the diagonal turbine of the Tanchon Power Station No. 1 and the lock chamber turbine of a tidal power station, thus accurately confirming the highest efficiency of the newly developed hydraulic turbines. -0-
