Upholding the tasks set forth at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea officials and working people in several national economic sectors are in high spirits from the first campaign of New Year.

Those in the electric power industry sector are waging a vigorous struggle to increase the production while sufficiently meeting the immediate demand for the electric power.

At the Pukchang Thermal-power Complex, a high-capacity power generation base, they are enhancing the responsibility of engineers in charge and operators as well as increasing the operation rate of equipment. At other thermal-power stations including Pyongyang, Sunchon, Chongchongang Thermal-power Stations they meticulously organize the production work to cope with the winter season and discharge their tasks on schedule while observing the technical regulations and standard operating instructions.

At hydroelectric power stations in various areas they secure sufficient water, acquaint themselves with the hydraulic structures and thoroughly set up a system of checking and repairing equipment, and guarantee the full operation of the generating equipment. Particularly, they are directing big efforts to technical management of generating equipment including water turbine and to putting the water conservation on a scientific basis.

Officials and coal miners in coal mining industry sector are putting more spurs to coal mining.

At the Sunchon and Pukchang Area Youth Coal Mining Complexes and Tokchon and Kaechon Area Coal Mining Complexes they speed up the tunneling by introducing an advanced blasting method and repair the coal wagons and keep them in good condition by ensuring the orderly functioning of their repair and maintenance shops so as to increase the production. At the Chonnae, Anju, Kujang and Hamnam Area Coal Mining Complexes the working people are unfolding a production campaign vigorously with a single desire to send more coal to various sectors of the national economy.

Officials and working class in the timber industry sector are pushing ahead with timber production to be sent to various sectors of the national economy as scheduled.

Forestry stations and mine pillar production stations of every provincial forestry management bureau are bringing about good results day after day giving priority to felling.

At building material production units they are channeling primary efforts to securing sufficient raw materials needed for production while normalizing the operation of equipment by dint of science and technology. They are also kindling fierce flames of introducing innovations while taking technical and practical measures scrupulously to enhance productivity.

Officials and working people in the machine-building industry sector and railway transport field are all out for a comprehensive development of the national economy and giving full play to strenuous spirit.
