At present, research is competitively being conducted in the world to provide clean water environment for health and longevity by further rationalizing the disinfection and refining of water.
Korean scientists have recently developed a synthesis technology of potassium ferrite (VI), which is recognized as an ideal water disinfectant.
“Potassium ferrite (VI) is an oxidizing agent stronger than potassium permanganate, ozone and chlorine disinfectants and it has high sterilization effects and does not cause secondary pollution in the water. A disinfection test for natural water shows that when the concentration of potassium ferrite (VI) in water is 5mg/L, its sterilizing rate is almost 100 percent and its cleanness remarkably improves,” said Pak Ji Hyok, a department director of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
According to him, potassium ferrite (VI) is effective for removing minor polluting materials including heavy metals in water and materials giving out bad smells like hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. It also clearly eliminates poisonous carcinogenic and radioactive substances.
The potassium ferrite (VI) with easy manufacturing method is a nonpoisonous green water disinfectant since it is safe and convenient to use and has no negative effect on health and environment.
It can be used to disinfect drinking water, surgical tools and other medical supplies and it proves effective for the treatment of women’s diseases caused by the infection by protozoan and germs and the treatment of skin diseases including wound and eczema.
It is used to purify all kinds of industrial waste water that are hard to treat in different biochemical ways and as selective oxidizing agent in the organic synthesis field, electrode activating material for alkaline battery, and oxide film former for the surface of aluminum and its alloy.
