South Hwanghae Province, the largest agricultural province in the DPRK, has launched a dynamic advance of the new year to bring about a decisive turn in agricultural production.
As it makes an in-depth analysis of the past experiences and lessons, the province arranges work for achieving stable and sustainable growth in grain production.
What is noteworthy is that it organizes work scrupulously to bring about practical innovations with science and technology as the main motive power for agricultural development.
It channels primary efforts into selecting right varieties and soils, setting it as one of important ways to reap good harvest in this year’s farming.
“We are organizing work to introduce appropriate high-yield varieties of crops by classifying the province’s rural areas into flat, intermediary and mountainous areas and also the coastal area which is greatly affected by wind from the sea and which has unfavourable water supply condition,” said an official of the provincial rural economy committee.
Masses are encouraged to take part in discussions for establishing a scientific farming system and method that can provide against disastrous abnormal climate and effective solutions are being worked out in that course.
The province also ensures that production is reenergized at organic compound fertilizer and compound microbial fertilizer factories and such organic fertilizers as Sinyang 2 fermented manure are produced in a scientific and technological way, while pushing the work to tap all sources of manure.
“There is a saying that rice is produced as much as you manure the fields. Our county organized concentrated transport of manure to the Phanryuk Cooperative Farm which has lots of fields with poor fertility, with the result that dozens of trucks and tractors carried large quantities of manure to fields,” said an official in Anak County.
The province also presses on in a methodological way with the introduction of rational cultivation methods which can avoid the influence of calamitous abnormal climate by advancing the period of harvest and the establishment of a well-organized work system for timely disseminating advanced farming methods to farms.
