Pyongyang University of Publishing and Printing Industry has recently researched and introduced the satchel-decoration printing process by using an ink jet method based on the CTP technology.
The CTP technology can directly print the image data input in a computer on paper, metal, cloth, leather, glass and wood. It is widely used in the printing industry as this technology does not use film and chemical reagents.
Unlike the currently used screen printing method, the new printing process is simple and can bring printed images into line with original ones. Especially, all materials needed for the printing process are locally available ones.
In order to prevent diffusion in jet printing, one of the knotty problems in establishing the printing process based on an ink jet method, scientists completed a method of transforming the physicochemical property of printing substrate.
In addition, they introduced a rational coating method that meets technical indexes, thus improving brilliance and colour tone and obtaining unfading print images.
They also solved different technical problems including adjusting printing conditions to increase descriptive representation according to manuscript and harmonizing the amount of ink absorption and picture deviation according to the moving speed of printing plate so as to improve representation.
“Thanks to the newly-developed ink jet method for the satchel-decoration printing process, the printing cost has been lowered by one fifth as compared to previously, while further improving the quality of decoration printing,” said scientist Kim Chol Gyu.
Their research finding has been introduced into several bag factories including the Sinuiju Bag Factory.
