Pyongyang, February 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a message of greeting to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and president of the People's Republic of China (PRC), on Friday.
Kim Jong Un in the message warmly congratulated the 24th Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing, on behalf of the WPK, the DPRK government and the Korean people. He also extended the heartfelt greetings to the general secretary, the CPC, the PRC government and all the Chinese people.
The message said that the Beijing Winter Olympics is the first auspicious event that the CPC and the Chinese people greet in the first year of the new one-hundred-year journey for achieving the prosperity of the Chinese nation, and a festival common to the peoples and sportspersons of all countries in the world aspiring after peace, friendship and solidarity.
The successful opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics despite the worldwide health crisis and unprecedented severe circumstances is another great victory won by socialist China, it noted.
The Olympic torch flaring up in Beijing clearly proves that no difficulty and challenge can ever prevent the Chinese people from vigorously advancing, rallied close around the CPC with the general secretary at the core, the message said.
The message expressed the belief that the Olympics would record one brilliant page in the history of international sports movement as a plain, secure and colorful one and strikingly demonstrate the dynamic spirit of China and its national power under the correct leadership of the general secretary and thanks to the sincere efforts of the CPC and the Chinese people.
The DPRK-China relations have been cemented into invincible strategic relations that can never be broken by anything in the struggle for defending and advancing the common cause, and the two parties and the peoples of the two countries have consolidated the unity and cooperation in all fields including politics, economy, culture and sports, the message noted.
Kim Jong Un in the message said that he would steadily develop the relations between the two parties and the two countries to a new high stage in conformity with the desire of the peoples of the two countries, together with the general secretary in the future, too.
