Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- An ideal street for the people has been erected majestically in Songsin and Songhwa areas of the capital city of Pyongyang to demonstrate the high spirit and remarkable creativity of the Korean people, who are vigorously advancing toward the brighter future of Korean-style socialism under the leadership of the great Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), and to represent the rapid development of the country dashing toward the attainment of a grandiose goal.

Songhwa Street, built in the eastern gateway to Pyongyang under the unique architectural development plan of the Party Central Committee and the plan for building 50 000 flats in Pyongyang set forth at the 8th Congress of the Party, is an outcome of the WPK's long-cherished desire to provide the people with more stable and civilized living conditions and successfully resolve the housing shortage of capital citizens. The street is, at the same time, the first entity symbolic of the new era of comprehensive development seething with great creation and changes.

True to the high intention of the Party Central Committee to turn Pyongyang better into the center of disseminating the Juche idea, Juche-oriented culture and Korean-style high civilization and into the great city of the people, the soldiers and civilians involved in the project performed an eye-opening miracle of building the distinctive grand architectural group of 10 000 flats, including an 80-storeyed skyscraper, within a year by waging a strenuous onward campaign, the fierce 24/7 struggle, despite manifold challenges and trials.

Through the construction of the street which opened a new turning point of development in the capital city construction, our people and servicepersons fully demonstrated the validity of the Party's Juche-oriented idea on architectural beauty, the potentiality of the self-supporting economy and the irresistible might of the single-hearted unity of the Party and the masses and vividly showed the true picture of Korean-style socialism vigorously advancing toward the bright future.

An inauguration ceremony of the street was held with splendor on Monday.

Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the WPK and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, attended the ceremony.

When he arrived at the ceremonial venue, fireworks were set off and the participants broke into thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!"

All the participants cheered enthusiastically as a token of their deep reverence for the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who set the people-first principle as the eternal political idea and unshakable political mode of the WPK and has dedicated himself to building an ideal socialist society brimming with the laughter and happiness of the people.

Present at the ceremony were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, and Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet.

Also attending it were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Yong Hwan, chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, members of the headquarters for the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang, officials from Party and power organs in the capital city, soldier- and civilian-builders and Pyongyangites.

The participants also included the working people, students and children who are to live in the new street of the people successfully completed under the leadership of the WPK.

The ceremonial ground was filled with absolute trust and fervent admiration for the Party Central Committee that vigorously leads the people to a new era of creation and miracles, bringing all their dreams and ideals into brilliant fruition.

The national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played.

There are many splendid inauguration ceremonies recorded in our Republic's history of grand construction for promoting the well-being of the people but this event is associated with many touching stories that are really unforgettable and should not be forgotten, the speaker said, adding that the Songhwa area is the monument to the great love which was erected by the strong faith that the things desired and anticipated by the people must be done without fail in any situation.

He expressed belief that the Pyongyangites moving into new houses amid the blessings of the whole country would always remember this eventful moment and dedicate their all to the prosperity of the country.

Fireworks were let off and balloons released and all the participants raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" with deep gratitude to the respected General Secretary who builds a land of bliss for the people with his warm love, repeatedly showing great benevolence for them.

The respected General Secretary warmly waved back to them, wishing them happiness in a new street and new houses.

The ground of the inaugural ceremony was flooded with the great excitement of the capital citizens, who could hardly repress their deep gratitude to the tender-hearted father for his benevolence as warm as sunlight in spring, looking up to him with tears in their eyes.

The respected General Secretary warmly waved back to the cheering crowds for a long time, sincerely wishing our people a happy and highly civilized life in their modern dwellings.

At the end of the ceremony, Party and government cadres looked around the street.

Seeing the imposing 80-storeyed sky-scraper, an elevated bridge, public catering facilities, they more keenly realized that every moment and day spent for putting great ideas into practice by the respected General Secretary, who continues his journey of devoted service for the people, unhesitatingly going through thick and thin for their sake, have resulted in providing the cornerstone of the country's prosperity and adding glory to the new era of the Workers' Party when the whole country is overflowing with the people's happiness.

Walking along the new street symbolic of high civilization, the blessed citizens unanimously said our Party, state, world and policy are the best, out of their irrepressible gratitude toward the motherly Party which willingly burdens itself for the sake of the people with a heavy duty in the harshest-ever time.

More deeply realizing the immutable truth that victory, glory, happiness and a rosy future are in store for them when they firmly trust and follow the respected General Secretary, they firmly pledged to take the lead in creating new things and making innovations and become the performers of feats in the honorable and proud struggle for the prosperity and development of the country.

Songhwa Street, which has been erected by the noble intention of the WPK that confidently brings earlier a new world and era of a prosperous and powerful nation under the uplifted banner of "The People Are God", the single-minded unity and self-reliance, will shine forever as a monument to the warm love for the people in the great era of Kim Jong Un along with the rosy morrow of the capital city of Pyongyang which will be transformed into a more magnificent city. -0-
