An enlarged meeting of the organizing committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu took place through video conferencing.

It was attended by the co-chairperson, vice-chairpersons and members of the organizing committee, political and social figures from different countries, members of organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people and officials of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.

Damian Ogbonna, co-chairman of the organizing committee who doubles as national chairman of the People's Progressive Party of Nigeria, made a report.

He recalled that the organizing committee issued a press statement on January 7, preparations for splendidly celebrating the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung and the 80th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il as a holiday common to mankind were made from the beginning of the year and various political and cultural events and international functions were held all over the world to mark the major anniversaries.

Praising the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un as a great man admired by the world, he pointed out that the international celebrations witnessed the profound reverence for the peerlessly great persons on the tenth anniversary of Kim Jong Un's assumption of the top posts of the Party and the state.

Recalling that the organizing committee gained precious achievements and experience while organizing and holding the recent peculiar and meaningful international events, he called for continuing to stir up the festive mood and wage more brisk activities for praising the peerlessly great men and giving wide publicity to the reality of the DPRK as well as for supporting the Korean people in their efforts to defend peace of the Korean peninsula, the region and the rest of the world.

The organizing committee was newly formed at the meeting.

Madav Kumar Nepal, chairperson of the Nepal Communist Party (United Socialism), Jesus Antonio Carlos Hernandez, general secretary of the Central Committee of the People's Socialist Party of Mexico, Damian Ogbonna, national chairman of the People's Progressive Party of Nigeria, Peter Woods, ambassador of the Asia-Pacific Region of the United Cities and Local Governments, Victor Petrov, chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, Yehia Zakaria Khairullah, vice-chairman of the Socialist Freedom Party of Egypt, Fumihiro Himori, chairman of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, Christer Lundgren, chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association, Dogu Ferincek, chairperson of the Motherland Party of Turkey, and So Ho Won, chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, were elected co-chairpersons of the organizing committee.

Adopted at the meeting was an action program of the organizing committee.
