Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- An obituary of winner of Kim Il Sung Order and Kim Jong Il Order Yang Hyong Sop, former vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, was issued by the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Saturday. He died of brain infarction at 22:40 on May 13, Juche 111 (2022) at the age of 96.

He was a revolutionary fighter who remained faithful to President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and a veteran revolutionary who made a positive contribution to the development of our Party and state under the special care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un till the concluding years of his life, the obituary said, and went on:

Born during the period of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule over Korea, he led a bitter life as a member of a stateless nation. After the liberation of Korea, he could lead a new life under the care of the President and was brought up to be a competent official for building a democratic, independent and sovereign state while studying at Kim Il Sung University, the highest seat of training national cadres.

In the stern period of the Fatherland Liberation War against the armed invasion by the U.S-led imperialist allied forces, he joined the People's Army and fought courageously. After the war, he had assumed important duties of the Party and the state ranging from an instructor and section chief of the Party Central Committee to minister of Higher Education, a secretary of the Party Central Committee and the president of the Academy of Social Sciences.

Working as a senior official of the Party Central Committee, an institution of training Party cadres and the supreme power body of the state, he devoted all his wisdom and energy to arming the Party members and other working people with the Party's revolutionary idea, uniting them around the President, thoroughly implementing the Juche-oriented education policy and further consolidating and developing the socialist political system of our country.

While working as a vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly for a long time, he made a special contribution to the work for strengthening the legal foundation for consolidating the single-hearted unity of the Party and the revolutionary ranks in every way and steadily developing the most advantageous Korean-style socialism true to the idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il , and made a positive contribution to enhancing the external prestige of the Republic through skilled diplomatic activities.

In the important historic period of accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche, he set a good example as a veteran senior official of the Party and the state in firmly carrying forward the revolutionary idea and the cause of the great leaders true to the leadership of Kim Jong Un . He edited lots of fine books on the greatness of the great leaders with his immense energy and vigorous writing to encourage the Party members and other working people to the struggle for a fresh victory in socialist construction in the era of our state-first principle.

Though he passed away, the devoted efforts and feats he made for the Party and the revolution, the prosperity and development of the state and the people's well-being will remain long. -0-
