Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- Farms in North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK have prepared for thoroughly preventing the damage from drought by directing efforts to laying the foundations for securing irrigation water while revving up the atmosphere of epidemic prevention among the people as required by the maximum emergency epidemic prevention system.
Officials and working people in the province finished clearing out the waterway extending some 1 400 kilometers and repairing more than 570 pumping equipment, dozens of irrigation structures and over 1 700 ground water facilities in a short span of time.
Leading officials in the agricultural field of the province, cities and counties have meticulously organized and guided the epidemic prevention work in their regions and units and pushed ahead with farming as planned while arousing agricultural workers to the work for protecting crops from drought.
The irrigation equipment parts plant of the provincial rural economy committee has manufactured many water pumps and vinyl pipes after establishing the efficient water pump production process with their own efforts and technology and irrigation management stations in the cities and counties have contributed to supplying irrigation water by repairing pumping equipment in a responsible manner. -0-
