The Jangchon Vegetable Cooperative Farm in Sadong District of the capital Pyongyang is the home of greenhouse vegetables in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It has been producing greenhouse vegetables for 30 years.
The respected Kim Jong Un called at the Jangchon Vegetable Cooperative Farm in June Juche 103(2014).
Sub-workteam head Ri Hye Yong says:
"Little did we think that the respected Kim Jong Un should call at our farm on such a sultry day.
Learning in detail about the vegetable farming of our farm, he said we build vegetable greenhouses extensively and encourage it so as to make our people always eat fresh vegetables including cucumber, tomato, crown daisy and lettuce even in mid-winter.
He added that it would be good to build the Jangchon Vegetable Cooperative Farm into a model farm of greenhouse vegetable growing and generalize the experience across the country."
Afterwards, busy as he was, Kim Jong Un guided the miniatures for construction on several occasions and solved the problems arising in the construction one by one.
As a result, the farm was face-lifted in less than one year.
In June Juche 104(2015), Kim Jong Un visited the farm again and said with great pleasure that the completely changed farm looks like a picture.
That day, he looked round every nook and corner of the greenhouses and said the farm should become a model of the whole country in the vegetable cultivation and production as well. He also taught the details of issues on putting the vegetable production on a highly scientific and intensive footing, on actively introducing advanced science and technology and widely cultivating high-yield vegetables of choice varieties and on training farmers as experts in vegetable growing and agricultural production.
The Jangchon Vegetable Cooperative Farm in Sadong District is a model unit of greenhouse vegetable production and a model farm of the whole country.
