Pyongyang, May 21 (KCNA) -- The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) convened a consultative meeting at the office building of the Party Central Committee on Saturday to discuss the matters on readjustment and reinforcement of the present state epidemic prevention capacities and preparations for the 5th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee.

Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, guided the meeting.

Attending the meeting were members of the Presidium of the WPK Central Committee and members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.

Present as observers were officials in the state emergency epidemic prevention sector and a leading official of the Ministry of Public Health.

The Political Bureau heard a report of the state emergency epidemic prevention headquarters on the state of epidemic spread as of May 20.

First, its consultative meeting discussed the issue of more effectively engineering and executing the anti-epidemic policies of the Party and the state in line with the overall situation in which the spread of the epidemic is being stably controlled and abated.

The Political Bureau estimated the stable situation being maintained in the overall areas in which the nationwide spread of the epidemic has been gradually defused and the number of recovered has increased with the death toll sharply decreased day by day as an all-people anti-epidemic campaign was launched to display the might and spirit of heroic Korea in the combat against the malignant epidemic under the decision and instruction of the Party Central Committee on switching over from the state epidemic prevention system to the maximum emergency epidemic prevention system.

The respected General Secretary outlined and analyzed the results of the epidemic prevention work of last nine days after the start of the anti-epidemic war.

Appreciating the current affirmative trend in the state emergency epidemic prevention, he said the achievements made in the ongoing campaign is an outcome of our Party's correct guidance and the politico-ideological superiority of our socialist system and its peculiar organizing ability and unity.

He stressed the need to maintain the current favorable turn in the overall epidemic prevention front by continually and rapidly regulating and optimizing the state epidemic prevention policy in keeping with the developments and mapping out the state strategy and tactics for its implementation and to take all possible steps for revitalizing the overall economy at the same time.

He said that it is necessary to make all the Party members recollect and arm themselves once again with the overall anti-epidemic measures, taken by our Party for more than two years since the outbreak of COVID-19, guideline and regulations for statewide epidemic prevention and the experience and lessons gained in the course of implementing them and to make the Party organizations' duty and role and the Party members' mission in tiding over the current health crisis be recognized again and enhance the consciousness of all the people.

He stressed the important tasks and ways for reliably safeguarding our public health defence line by continuously pushing ahead with the work for curbing the spread of the epidemic to the maximum and improving the treatment on fevered persons and those tested positive for the epidemic and consistently grasping the overall anti-epidemic principles and measures taken by our Party.

Saying that it is necessary to grasp the inefficiency of the statewide work through an acute consideration and make an opportunity of achieving the signal development of the state capacity of coping with crisis, he stressed that all sectors and unit should dynamically push ahead with the strategic readjustment and reinforcement in the strategic view, not taking shortsighted and temporary measures and study and establish the action program and working system in case of emergency.

He called for certainly winning great victory in the all-people campaign against the malicious virus by directing great efforts to protecting the health of medical workers and ensuring their life and developing the communist virtues and beautiful traits into the amazing style of our society and inspiring the people with patriotism, collectivism and the socialist spirit.

Repeatedly stressing the duty and role of the Party and responsibility of Party workers in the current public health crisis created in the country, he said that our Party organizations and workers should stand at the places the people are afraid of, anxious about and troubled with, and become the bulletproof walls for defending the people with the boundless devotion and invariable loyalty to them.

He referred to the important matters related with the role and immediate tasks for the field of jurisdiction, prosecution and public security.

The consultative meeting discussed the issue of setting up district treatment centers for operating and commanding medical service to cope with the epidemic and deploying medical forces to all parts of the country in a balanced way, the issue of establishing medicine supply centers and bases in Pyongyang City, all provinces, districts and counties and improving the efficiency, speed and safety of the supply of medicines, the issue of positively using Koryo medicines with great efficiency in the treatment, the issue of enhancing the production capacity of pharmaceutical factories and increasing the variety of essential and reserve medicines and the issue of strongly taking fundamental measures for further cementing the material and technical foundations in the field of public health, and took relevant policy-oriented measures.

Next, the meeting discussed the issue of dispatching technical guidance teams to each province to conduct a general survey of the execution of the Party and state policies for the first half of the year 2022 as part of the preparations for the 5th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee.

Saying that the struggle to implement the Party's line for the comprehensive development of socialism should be pushed ahead persistently without interruption together with continuing to dynamically wage the state emergency epidemic prevention campaign, the respected General Secretary mentioned the need to organize the technical guiding teams for surveying, according to each region and sector, the execution of the Party and state policies assigned at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK with members of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee.

He stressed that leading officials should adopt timely measures after accurately surveying on site the situation of the execution of the emergency epidemic prevention system such as supply of medicine to residents, treatment, guaranteeing their livelihood and the realization of epidemic prevention measures, along with the production in the industrial sectors and actual conditions of the agricultural sector according to the farming processes for the implementation of major policy-oriented tasks.

He said that the technical guiding teams should actively guide and help the work to enhance the function and role of local Party and power organs and working people's organizations which have to play a leading role in implementing the Party's policies in their respective areas, from a developmental point of view in compliance to the demands of the developing revolution and the changing trend of situation and environment.

Saying that the leading officials, dispatched to each province, should solemnly accept the heavy responsibility given by the Party and the people and find, on the basis of accurate understanding of the actual conditions in field, innovative measures and report them to the Plenary Meeting of the Party Central Committee so that they may be reflected in relevant decisions, he indicated the ways for doing so.

The consultative meeting of the Political Bureau decided to organize the technical guiding teams involving members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the Party Central Committee as the main force and officials from the relevant departments of the Party Central Committee as well as necessary persons from the Cabinet and the judicial and prosecutorial sector, and made detailed arrangements to allocate the areas where the respective teams will have to work and their duties. -0-
