The Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the WPK Central Military Commission, the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly on May 19 published an obituary of Hyon Chol Hae, Marshal of the Korean People’s Army and general advisor to the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK.
According to it, Hyon Chol Hae died of multiple organ failure at the age of 87 at 9:00 am on May 19 Juche 111(2022).
Hyon Chol Hae was a prominent political and military activist who remained infinitely faithful to the Party and the leader and devotedly served the country and people during his whole life and dedicated his noble life to the sacred struggle to defend the national sovereignty and supreme interests of the country and achieve victory in the cause of Juche, it said.
It also referred to the fact that he fully displayed matchless heroism and self-sacrificing spirit in the struggle to safeguard President Kim Il Sung during the Fatherland Liberation War, acted as the closest aide to Chairman Kim Jong Il in his Songun revolutionary leadership during the Arduous March and forced march, worked hard to ensure the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un’s unified command system took deep root in the entire army at the important historic turning point in carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Juche and put his heart and soul into making the People’s Army carry on the history of honourable feats as the faithful revolutionary armed forces of the WPK.
