The spread of the malignant virus is being contained and controlled in a stable manner and the state anti-epidemic basis is further being solidified.
The central emergency anti-epidemic sector is pushing ahead with material and technical preparations to cope with possible dangers and challenges in an all-round way, while concentrating on preventing the spread of the epidemic and curing it.
It has conducted epidemiological surveys in several districts in the capital city of Pyongyang in order to confirm the characteristics of the disease and establish scientific control methods and intensified research into and analysis of changes in its course and reaction to medicines and features of clinical symptoms in comparison with those in the beginning of sudden increase in the number of persons with fever.
Emergency anti-epidemic sectors at all levels direct big efforts to medical observation, timely treatment and thoroughgoing sterilization, while conducting intensive disease screening and medical examination of all the residents in a stricter manner.
On May 19 alone, nearly 200 000 medical and anti-epidemic workers intensively sterilized more than 100 000 objects across the country, including public places and garbage and sewage treatment plants, possible transmission routes of the virulent disease.
The medical science research field is working to ensure the correctness and scientific accuracy of virus examination and complete treatment tactics for enhancing the curative effects by combining Western and traditional Koryo medicines.
Party and government organs and working people’s organizations at all levels keep up with people to take timely measures, while intensifying information and education activities for making officials and working people enhance their epidemic crisis awareness and sense of responsibility and fulfil their duties.
Each province formed an emergency medical supply convoy to ensure a regular supply of medicines to pharmacies and curative and preventive institutions in its cities and counties and officials of Party and government organs grasp the sale of medicines on the spot on a daily basis to take immediate measures.
Other health workers and lecturers and students of medical workers training institutions in Pyongyang and local areas are now engaged in the anti-epidemic campaign 24-7.
