A seminar took place at the Central Hall of Workers on June 21 on the lapse of one year since the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un sent his historic letter "Let the Trade Unions Become Advance Units That Open Up a New Era of Upsurge in Socialist Construction in the Vanguard" to the participants in the Eighth Congress of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK).
The seminar heard papers dealing with the scientific accuracy and validity of the idea and theory clarified in the letter.
Speakers at the seminar said that the work of the General Secretary is an immortal programme to be held fast to by the GFTUK in the gigantic struggle for ushering in a period of overall development in socialist construction.
They said that in his letter the General Secretary made clear the position of the GFTUK and pointed out a fresh general direction and target in its ideological work, as required by the times and the developing reality.
They added that the federation can fulfill its core and leading role in socialist construction when it dynamically conducts an ideological campaign for modeling the entire federation on the revolutionary idea of the General Secretary, regarding it as the general direction and target of the ideological work.
The speakers expressed their resolution to fully display the militant stamina of the heroic working class in today's solemn advance towards overall development of socialist construction by creditably discharging their sacred mission and duty for the country and the revolution, cherishing the letter in their hearts.
Present at the seminar were Ri Tu Song, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials of the GFTUK Central Committee, and trade union officials and members and other workers in the city of Pyongyang.
