The Third Enlarged Meeting of the Eighth Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea was held in the building of the headquarters of the Party Central Committee between June 21 and 23.

The respected Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK, Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, guided the meeting.

Present at the meeting were Vice-Chairman Pak Jong Chon and members of the Central Military Commission of the WPK.

Attending it as observers were officials of relevant department of the Central Committee of the WPK, members of the Executive Committee of the Korean People's Army Committee of the WPK, commanding personnel of the Ministry of National Defence and commanders and political commissars of the large combined units of the KPA.

The meeting discussed and decided on the issue on increasing the number of Vice-Chairmen of the Central Military Commission of the Party and elected Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK Ri Pyong Chol Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Party.

Brought up for discussion as agenda items at the meeting were pivotal issues for rapidly strengthening the national defence capacity on to the level demanded by the new stage of the developing revolution by thoroughly implementing the military line and major defence policies of the Party.

The Central Military Commission of the WPK analysed its work system and order and the operation of the military commissions of the provincial, city and county Party committees, discussed important issues for enhancing the function and role of the military commissions at all levels as demanded by norms of Party building and Party rules, and adopted a relevant decision with a unanimous approval.

The meeting also reviewed the work of the Ministry of National Defence, the General Staff, the KPA Committee of the WPK and the General Political Bureau, and the military and political activities of the commanding officers and the staff of the units at all levels of the KPA and the Party and political bodies of the armed forces organs in the first half of the year 2022.

The Central Military Commission of the WPK confirmed the issue on further strengthening the Party's leadership over the whole armed forces of the Republic in an all-round way and bringing about a revolutionary turn in training the entire army as an army strong in ideology and faith, holding fast to the Party's orientation and general line of army building, the strategic and tactical tasks for powerfully promoting the work to strengthen the army militarily and technically and the immediate tasks for defence upbuilding, and decided on the organizational and political measures for guaranteeing the thorough implementation of the Party's defence policies.

Under the guidance of the Vice-Chairmen of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, deep study and discussions were made concerning the military measures for additionally confirming the operational tasks of the front-line units of the KPA and enhancing their operational execution ability, operational plans revised and their result reported to the Central Military Commission of the Party.

The Party Central Military Commission heard a report on the result of the study and discussion and framing of important documents and decided to add the major military action plan to the operational task of the front-line units of the KPA. Examining and approving important issues arising in providing military guarantee for further expanding and strengthening the war deterrent of the country according to the strategic intention of the Party Central Committee, it ratified the plan for revising the military organizational structure to this end.

Sectional tasks for thoroughly implementing the Party's revolutionary line on army building and strategic policies were emphasized and principles to be maintained in the overall national defence clarified.

Guiding the meeting, Kim Jong Un said today's struggle to overcome the harsh trials of revolution with strong will and resolute decision urgently demands the KPA, powerful citadel for defending the revolution and the country, firmly preserve and steadily increase the absolute might and military and technical upper hand.

He stressed that all the army should rise up true to the idea of the Party Central Committee on army building and its strategic military intention and further consolidate the strong self-defence capacity overpowering any enemy, on the occasion of the Third Enlarged Meeting of the Eighth Central Military Commission of the Party which presented clear guidelines for strengthening the military power, thereby reliably defending the dignity of the great country and safety of the great people.

Kim Jong Un made a conclusion on important principles to be maintained in all military and political activities of the KPA.
