Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday says in an editorial that to take thoroughgoing measures for preventing damage by flood, heavy rain and strong wind is an important political work for protecting the people's lives and safety.

It will be possible to firmly protect the people's lives and safety and fully display the absolute advantages of Korean-style socialism centered on the popular masses when all the sectors and units meticulously conduct the work for preventing the damage by typhoon and flood, the editorial stresses, and goes on:

It is imperative to thoroughly prevent the damage by flood, heavy rain and strong wind in order to successfully attain this year's target.

When we take strong measures to prevent typhoon and flood damage, we can successfully complete the projects desired by the Party and provide a sure guarantee for accomplishing the five-year plan.

The agricultural sector should protect the crops from flood and rainstorm. It should put efforts into reinforcing waterways and levees and digging deep water-catching ditches on the edge of fields so as to prevent land and grain loss.

All the sectors of the national economy should take thoroughgoing measures to prevent the damage by flood and downpour and put production on a normal basis.

Such major construction sites as the construction sites of 10 000 flats in the Hwasong area and the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm should preserve construction materials and equipment well and take thoroughgoing measures for the safety of buildings.

The editorial calls for creditably ensuring the improvement of the people's living and the development of the national economy by reliably protecting the people's lives and safety and the country's assets from typhoon and flood. -0-
