Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- An online seminar took place in Russia on August 3 to mark the 20th anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il 's historic visit to the Far Eastern Region of the Russian Federation.
Speeches were made at the event attended by Russian personages and citizens.
Victor Petrov, chairperson of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, said:
The great Comrade Kim Jong Il paid three visits to Russia in the new century.
I mark the days when he visited Russia in August every year.
Comrade Kim Jong Il paid deep attention to developing friendly relations between Russia and the DPRK and made great achievements.
Thanks to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , a successor to his cause, and President Putin, the relations of friendship between Russia and the DPRK have now reached a new strategic height.
Alexandr Vorontsov, section chief at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said:
The great Comrade Kim Jong Il had talks with President Putin a couple of times.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un had a meaningful meeting and significant talks with President Putin in Vladivostok City in April 25, 2019.
This ushered in a new heyday in developing relations between Russia and the DPRK and was an event of great significance in ensuring durable peace and security of the Korean peninsula.
A Russian writer said:
Those who were received by Comrade Kim Jong Il were all impressed by his noble humanity, warm love for the people and profound insight.
All the thoughts and activities of the respected Comrade
Kim Jong Un identical to Comrade Kim Jong Il are associated with the people.
