Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- August 15, Juche 34 (1945) is the day that brought down the curtain on the distress-torn history of the Korean nation that had been forced into colonial slavery by the Japanese imperialists.
The Korean people, looking back upon the day 77 years ago, when "Hurrah!" for national liberation resounded far and wide, pay the highest tribute to President Kim Il Sung.
The Japanese imperialists, who fabricated the "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" on August, 1910 in a brigandish way and turned Korea into their colony, brutally suppressed the Korean people.
Owing to the heinous Japanese imperialist's moves to obliterate the nation, the Korean people were deprived of their language, letters and names.
At a time when the destiny of the nation was on the verge of ruin, the President declared a total war against the Japanese imperialists and accomplished the historic cause of national liberation by leading to victory the 20-year-long hard-fought bloody anti-Japanese revolutionary war without any support from state-backing home front or regular army and defeated the Japanese imperialists who dreamed of "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere".
Korea's liberation brought by the President was the great event to be etched in the history of the Korean nation, which served as an occasion for making a dramatic turn in the destiny of our people.
Since then, the Korean people began building a new prosperous country under the leadership of the President, and our country is demonstrating its dignity as the socialist powerful country with tremendous national power that no one can ever provoke and as the genuine people's country.
The immortal revolutionary feats of the President who liberated the country and laid the eternal foundation for the prosperity of the country are shinning in the history of our nation.
