Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, received a message of greeting from Bashar Al-Assad, president of the Syrian Arab Republic, on September 1.
In the message, the Syrian president extended the heartfelt and warmest congratulations to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, and, through him, to the friendly Korean people, on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the DPRK, wishing the DPRK great success in the struggle for prosperity and progress.
The message said that the DPRK has maintained the unique line for independence, sovereignty and socialist construction as desired of the Korean people over the past 74 years and pushed ahead with the building of a powerful country while staunchly repulsing all moves of the imperialist forces.
It noted that it is important for all countries fighting against dominationism, blockade and interference in internal affairs to further raise the perseverance of their peoples and consolidate mutual relations and boost cooperative ties to realize their interests under the currently changing world situation.
